Your SRF plans
There are many ways to engage with Be You to support you in meeting your service’s specific SRF plan and goals.
A dedicated team of Be You Consultants help registered Be You Learning Communities and guide them in the best ways to utilise SRF to participate in Be You.
While there is no cost to access Be You, SRF can still be used to support your service’s engagement with Be You.
Using your funded time
There are five aspects to consider when deciding how to use SRF backfill funding to more fully engage with Be You.
By directing backfill funding to Be You Implementation efforts, your service can create time for:
- Planning – taking the time to understand your context and planning for your unique needs is vital for success. The allocated funded time could be used to meet with your Be You Consultant to define your vision for change, unpack barriers and enablers to change and develop a plan that addresses your key needs. Additionally, funded time could also be used to engage with the Planning for Implementation cycle by completing the workbook and associated professional learning modules.
- Learning – Choose the best Be You resources to address your SRF goals, then use allocated funded time to engage your team in professional learning through Be You Professional Learning modules, events, Micro Learning, Fact Sheets, Posters or Facebook posts.
- Reflection – Reflecting on learning and on current practice, individually, and together, supports learning communities to check biases, and work towards shared understanding and practices. The Be You Implementation and Reflection Toolkit can assist you in documenting critical reflection, which can be completed during backfill time.
- Action – Applying learning to practice, embedding changes into policies, and sharing learning with families all takes time. Using allocated funding can free up Action Team members to make the changes which create and sustain protective mental health and wellbeing outcomes.
- Measuring success – Assessing your actions and any implementation strategies can help you understand or determine whether your needs and goals have been met. This process of measuring success can also support continuous improvement and sustained practice change. Allocated funding allows for the undertaking of Be You Surveys at various stages in your implementation process, which can assist with SRF reporting and identifying next steps for further professional learning and action.
Lydia Condely, Be You Action Team Leader at Shine Bright Swan Hill South Kindergarten, explains how she will use SRF to participate in Be You:
“This year we are going to take our time to engage in-depth in the professional learning and make sure we implement it into our work with children,” she said.
"We are also planning for how to share mental health information with families. I'll be using some of my SRF release time to talk to Be You Consultants and other kindergartens implementing Be You.”
