Aims
Engaging Adolescents is a practioner training course that provides easy-to-use techniques for parents and families to support adolescents to manage their own behaviour and emotions. The program trains practitioners to work with families, help parents and carers build a relationship with their teenager, and provides strategies to deal with unacceptable behaviour.Program theory
Locus of control (LOC) framework; balancing emotions and keeping things in proportion.Topics
Topics include practitioner training course curriculum for working with parents (for those choosing to certify to become a parent educator); the common ground shared by parents; what are reasonable expectations to hold about adolescents?; new understandings of adolescence (social landscapes, brain snaps and body makeovers); a 3-option model and flowchart for parent decision-making to manage a teenager’s problem behaviour (1. self-check for parents, 2. build their relationship, 3. tough conversations).Cost
