Aims
DiGii Social provides children aged 10 to 13 with educational social-media-like experience that promotes their online safety, civility and savviness. DiGii Social applies clever technology to guide a child through establising their identity online, inform their choices and teach them the skills vital to their lifelong digital health, and personal and social safety.Program theory
DiGii Social uses the principles of positive psychology, targeting self-development and supporting children to focus on their strengths, express gratitude and develop positive coping skills. The gamified platform also applies social learning theory by helping children learn from strong role models and through vicarious reinforcement. The principles of cognitive behaviour therapy guide children as they assess and evaluate their thinking and actions through the lens of digital life.Topics
DiGii Social topics sit under three pillars: digital health and wellbeing; digital safety and self-protection; and digital relationships and legalities. Within those pillars, topics include physical health, responsible decision making, critical thinking, gratitude and social and emotional learning. The platform teaches children how and when to report and seek help, and the content covers inappropriate content and contact, cyberbullying, trolling and cyber self-protection.Cost
Program structure
DiGii Social can be used just like any social media – a quick scroll before school as children come in and get set up or in the spare minutes after finishing a lesson, when children have finished ahead of others. The platform hosts a library of more than 50 educational animated tutorials and challenges (including quizzes, scenario-solving, gratitude training) that the teacher or administrator is able to launch onto a message board for all children.Instructor
