Aims
The WorryWoos Developing Emotional Intelligence Program aims to develop emotional intelligence through exploring emotions, relationships and social-emotional skills.Program theory
The program adheres to Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences and the five CASEL competencies. It incorporates elements of Bloom’s taxonomy of learning, Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, Kohlberg’s moral development, but couched within a Piagetian framework and in the context of the power of social interactional learning. Together they form the foundation of an engaging curriculum which subtly encompasses a UDL (Universal Design for Learning) approach.Topics
A range of emotions including: Worry/anxiety, frustration/anger, loneliness/grief, insecurity, confusion/assertiveness, envy/jealousy and social confidence/shyness.Cost
Program structure
The WorryWoo Developing Emotional Intelligence Curriculum Book suggests a new character be introduced each week, over seven weeks. However, some educators prefer to spread the introduction of each of the characters out over a longer period. This can depend on the nature and age of the group and the teacher's preferred strategy. Lessons about each character are split into five sessions.Instructor
