Aims
Karma Classroom gives educators tips for self-care to reduce burnout and maintain a healthy classroom environment. The program provides the tools to weave mindful movement (yoga), breath and mindfulness into the classroom. It also aims to give teachers tools for self-care, to manage their own health and wellbeing, to create a classroom climate that is calm, compassionate and invites creative, critical thinkers and learners.Program theory
The Karma Class and its programs and resources is based on the scientific and psycho-social investigations into how yoga and mindfulness support a whole-child approach to development, learning and wellbeing. The program also aligns with the Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL) framework.Topics
Topics include teacher self-care; health and wellbeing; bringing yoga, breath and mindfulness into the classroom; the benefits of yoga, breath and mindfulness for teachers; introducing peace pauses into every day; the magic of breath (understandng how breath can be used to either calm or energise); mindful movement; keeping our world clean and healthy; cultivating community.Cost
Program structure
One workshop of either 4 hours (online) or 5 hours (face-to-face). The whole-school approach offers ongoing support and coaching to help embed the program and practices into the school's culture. The Karma Classroom Cards supports educators with activities and exercises to weave the program into every school day for just minutes at a time.Instructor
