  1. What is Be You?

Be You Consultants

As a participating learning community, you have access to free Consultant support at every stage of your Be You implementation journey.
The image shows a female Be You Consultant sitting at a desk in an office setting, using a laptop computer and talking on a cell phone. She is wearing a blue sweater and appears to be engaged in a conversation. The office environment includes a large window, desk, and various informational posters on the wall. This image could be used to describe a professional working in an learning community.

Who we are

Be You Consultants from Early Childhood Australia and headspace are highly skilled multidisciplinary professionals with diverse expertise in mental health and wellbeing. Consultants bring evidence-informed knowledge and extensive experience in both education and clinical practice to support early learning services and schools in achieving long-lasting, positive change.

As educators, we want to jump straight into the action because that is what’s comfortable - action makes us feel like we’re achieving something and will see instances of change. But implementation science suggests that jumping straight into action may not support sustainable and meaningful change. It's the implementation planning that supports the change process and your dedicated Be You Consultant is here to help with the whole process.

What we do

Be You Consultants connect with learning communities to support and guide their implementation journey. Using the Be You Implementation Cycle, Consultants aim to support a whole learning community approach to mental health and wellbeing.

By collaborating closely with your elected Action Team, Be You Consultants tailor their support to meet the specific needs of each learning community, including:

  • Supporting your learning community in identifying priorities such as enhancing mental health literacy, promoting educator wellbeing or fostering inclusion.
  • Aligning Be You with national, state and territory priorities and educational requirements.
  • Providing ongoing connection to support continuous improvement, address challenges and celebrate achievements.
  • Guiding you to the relevant Be You tools and resources to support progress through goal setting and action.
  • Assisting with postvention response, recovery and planning*
*Be You can provide postvention planning support to all Australian secondary and combined schools and can work with all schools in a postvention response (including primary schools).
